This week we will continue our focus on the basketball season as crunch time is approaching in the dog days of January and down the stretch in February and during March Madness when conference championships and state playoffs will be in full swing.

Athlete of the Week:

This weeks top athlete is Zion Bosley-Slade from Independence High School. The junior had his best game of the season scoring a career high 20 points and playing an absolutely stellar game on defense holding down one the the top offensive performers in the county and state Jordan Nevill to 13 points in a must win situation for the Patriots with three huge consecutive conference rivalry games coming up for Independence.

Bosley-Slade was named the “Player of the Game” by head basketball coach Preston Davis. “Zion led us in scoring with 20 points, and was our primary defender on Jordon Nevill, he got it done on both ends of the court,” said Davis.
