MINT HILL, NC – The 9th Annual Golf Classic held on September 9 at the Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation was a big fundraising success for the local Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce. The event raised thirty-seven thousand dollars to fund many of the programs the non-profit organization supports within the Mint Hill community.

The revenue generated provides for scholarship programs for local high school students, senior citizen events such as the Annual Christmas Luncheon, assisting members who have been struggling with survival during the COVID pandemic, and many other worthwhile endeavors that have a positive impact upon many residents living and working in the local area.

Committee Chair Joy Greear stated, “We are grateful to the many sponsors, players, and volunteers who helped support our 9th Annual Golf Tournament. This was the most successful event to date with over $37,000 raised to invest back into the Mint Hill community. Net proceeds help fund college scholarships for Mint Hill seniors, Chamber events like networking and ribbon cuttings for small businesses, educational opportunities for members, senior citizens and so much more.”

Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Paige McKinney added, “We are grateful to our many sponsors who made this event such a large success including our title sponsor, Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center. Many of our players return each year for friendly competition and fun on the greens. We even had a team from Winston-Salem because the Mint Hill Chamber Golf Tournament is known in the area as a must-attend event.”

The tournament was certainly a spectacular event held on a beautiful golf course. Even the weather found a way to cooperate. The atmosphere was friendly, while a competitive spirit was shown often on the greens. The funds raised will help promote local businesses and support education, including other initiatives crucial to the greater economic growth of the community and surrounding area.
