MINT HILL, NC – On Friday, April 1, Mint Hill Arts held the Opening Reception for the 4th Annual Romie and Judy Mizell Photography Show.

The annual photography show honors Romie and Judie Mizell’s many years spent volunteering with Mint Hill Arts.  President from 2013-2017, award-winning photographer Romie has over fifty photographs on display at Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center.  In her 35-year career as an artist, Judie, who works mainly in watercolor, has exhibited and sold her work throughout the Eastern United States.

From 36 unique entries submitted by 19 different photographers, seven winners were chosen.  Honorable Mentions went to Alyssa Haight (“Fozzy the Dandy Lion”), Debra Joyce (“Reflection”), Peter Bonney (“Pumpkin in the Window Sill”) and Jay Alexander (“Hore Abbey”).  Patrick Vaca took third place for “A Practice in Patience;” Joan C. Thomson received second for “Oh Susanna, The Adventures We Had,” and Jennifer Benson Benton was awarded first place for “Hey Doll.”

The Romie and Judie Mizell Photography Show will be on display at Mint Hill Arts Gallery through the end of April.  Mint Hill Arts is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

Mint Hill Arts is currently accepting entries for the “Buds and Buddies Spring Show,” a celebration of Spring and all that blooms this time of year, including friendship, flowers and all things Spring.  Both members and nonmembers are invited to submit up to 4 pieces of art of any medium.  This will be a judged show with ribbons only (no monetary awards), and pieces will be on display at Mint Hill Arts during the month of May.  For more information, visit https://minthillarts.org/current-artist-call/.
