MINT HILL, NC – Mending Strides Ranch, Inc., an equine-assisted psychotherapy and learning facility, empowers those suffering the effects of trauma and hardships through the use of rescued horses to help kids, adults, veterans and first responders with PTSD and other psychological conditions cope more effectively in their daily lives.

Each session offered is customized to meet individual treatment and personal growth goals. All the various activities are focused and conducted on the grounds with no horseback riding being involved. Assisted equine therapies are experiencing interactive therapy with the horses and other animals such as a donkey or miniature horses in a relaxing and soothing environment with nature.
The animals can be a bridge between human behavior and our state of mind. They can show us how better to cope with stress in our lives, and how to like ourselves more completely and unconditionally in the world around us.
The non-profit offers several different programs which include Individual Therapy sessions for ages 7 to adults, Growing Strides for ages 10 to adult, Hanging with the Heard for veterans on Tuesdays and for teachers and first responders on Thursdays from 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm. These sessions are free and held weekly. Finally, Horse School for homeschoolers, scouts, and youth clubs is most appropriate for ages 10-16.

The local Mint Hill American Legion Post 555 urges local veterans, especially those from the Global War on Terror era, to contact Mending Strides directly or contact the Post Service Officer, Edwin Arce, Jr. on the non-profit organization’s Facebook page or website at https://www.ncpost555.org for more information.
