Memorial Day 2021: A Holiday Inching Closer To Normal

MINT HILL, NC – As soon as the long-awaited long weekend at the end of May is approaching, we start thinking about how to celebrate. Over the last year and then some, many activities and celebrations have been canceled, but recently we have been inching closer to normal. For Memorial Day 2021, there finally will be some in-person celebrations happening. Memorial Day is a day to remember our fallen military personal, but it is also recognized as a holiday to kick off the beginning of summer fun!

Memorial Day Celebration at U.S. National Whitewater Center is back in action and ready to kick off the summer season. The center will offer activities Saturday and Sunday of the holiday weekend. Sunday will be the main day of activities that will include yoga sessions, live music, and fireworks. Free Flags will be giving out one million flags to customers on Saturday, May 29 at Ace Hardware stores. The flags will be stick flags about 8″ by 12″. They are great to be used in a garden as a tribute for those service people that have fallen, be placed on a grave, or in a field with others. Flags will be available will supplies last. Slice of Summer is a summer celebration kick-off held at Rea Farms. South Charlotte Macaroni Kid is hosting the event. The celebration will include bounce houses, activities, a DJ, games, and so much more. The event will be held on June 13. All the activities at the event are free to the public. Food and drinks will be available for an additional charge. At the event, Rea Farms is asking participants to please wear a mask and adhere to current guidelines. Memorial Day Fun Show with Cabarrus Saddle Club will be hosting a show for horse and entertainment lovers. The event will be held at 4370 Zion Church Road in Concord. It starts at 10:30 am, and admission is free. At the event, participants will find horse shows that are geared to all levels of experience and interest. Indian Trail Memorial Day Ceremony is being held by the Town of Indian Trail on Monday, May 31. The ceremony will start at 11:00 am and will be held at the Veterans Memorial Garden located at 315 Matthews-Indian Trail Road. Memorial Day Ceremony in Huntersville in 2021 and American Legion Post 321 have come together to create a Memorial Day celebration that will be held at Veterans Park. The park is located at Main and Maxwell in Huntersville. The event will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Monday, May 31. The Town of Hunterville and the American Legion Post 321 are inviting all to celebrate this 20th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony. The event is free, and the town is looking forward to celebrating together.

Memorial Day 2021 is going to be a holiday that many people are going to celebrate – finally – together and in person. This is a milestone that we have all been looking forward to for a long time.
