MINT HILL, NC – The third “James T. Brennan” Memorial Golf Tournament fundraiser was another success for the Marine Corps League local Detachment 750, which meets at the VFW Post 4059 in Mint Hill. The fundraising event was geared to assist the Marines with funding programs for veteran and youth charities in the Charlotte metropolitan area.

Some of the key organizations include Wounded Warrior Battalion-East, Young Marines Program, Toys for Tots, Marine and Navy JROTC scholarships, Marines Helping Marines, Navy and Marines Corps Relief Society, Marines Corps Scholarship Foundation, Semper Fi Funds, Marine Corps University Leadership Award, Delta Dental Scholarship, and college scholarships through the Marine Corps League Foundation.

The Marine Corps League is also a great resource for other veteran groups located in Mint Hill and in the Charlotte are as they have both a well-trained color guard and rifle team who are available at special events on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and at funeral services upon request by families of fallen veterans and those who would like a proper military honors service for former veterans and fellow marines. They have worked closely and coordinated events with Mint Hill American Legion Post 555, Inc. locally at these events.

Locally, they also provide Veteran Services Officers (VSO’s) support scouting the Eagle Scout awards program and projects, Marine Roses program, POW/MIA Remembrance, Rifle and Pistol Competition, and other volunteer-assisted programs.

The weather could not have been more beautiful for the event, and all who participated had a great time on the fairways. The Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation facility was the perfect location for such an important fundraising event. The opening ceremony was patriotic, and the ideals of Americanism and respect for our flag and country were gracious.

The buffet dinner, door prizes and raffle all went smoothly, and those who led the leader board received their awards with dignity and respect. Although, the thrill of victory showed when they displayed their awards.

Overall, it was a fantastic day and event, all the proceeds will be used to support the many worthy causes mentioned above. Semper Fi, Marines!
