MINT HILL, NC – Lowe Neddo Funeral Home continues to excel in their approach on handling the end-of-life experience that one day everyone will face. This is largely due to the passion of its owner, Michael Neddo. “My desire is to change the perception of who a funeral director is and what a funeral can be,” Neddo shares. “I want anyone who walks in stranger, to walk out a friend.”

In keeping with his desires, Neddo has worked diligently to address the needs of his clients. “At their hearts, funerals are a social event, but COVID has changed the way we socialize,” Neddo states. Lowe Neddo has invested in technology that can address this impact. “We now are able to livestream a funeral from anywhere. Whether it takes place in our socially distanced 15-seat chapel, in a private home, or by a graveside, a Lowe Neddo funeral is totally mobile,” Neddo explains.

Lowe Neddo has eliminated their smaller visitation rooms and created a larger chapel which allows for safety and social distancing.

Lowe Neddo also uses technology to webcast funerals and create online obituaries. “We create a page where mourners can leave comments, share memories, upload photos and videos, and purchase sympathy gifts for the family. So, even if someone misses the actual event, they can still pay their respects,” Neddo informs.

These modernizations benefit the bereaved family, too. “When someone is in the throes of loss, everything feels out of control,” Neddo adds. “It’s difficult to process and remember what is happening. With our technology, we record the service so the family can watch it later, and we put together a book or memories that were shared online. Then, when a bad day comes along, the family can have a small ray of comfort at their fingertips.”

Often what a suffering family craves is not just a shoulder to cry on, but more practical day-to-day help. Lowe Neddo does its best to meet these needs. “I know that often in such an overwhelming time people require concrete actions,” Neddo says, “This is another area the Lowe Neddo family has services to help.”

Lowe Neddo’s team offers support in many ways. “We are a well-connected place. We provide grieving families with referrals for florists, estate attorneys, realtors, restaurants, lodging, house cleaners, landscape companies, and other businesses who address needs the family might not even be aware they have at such a difficult time. It is very important to me and my staff that we are thorough and give a lot of attention to detail.” The Lowe Neddo team lives up to that promise with their forthright reputation and fair pricing.

Neddo is also beginning to write a column for the Mint Hill Times again. “I am a local person,” he says. “It’s been a few years since I wrote like this, but I have a lot of advice and encouragement to give to my fellow Mint Hill residents. Even if a reader doesn’t use my funeral home, I still want to be known as someone who gives heartfelt, practical advice that will help them out when the time comes.”

“I’m excited to continue to get to know my neighbors and to share in whatever part of their story I can,” Neddo smiles. “I’m a small-town guy at heart. I know that Town of Mint Hill is doing its best to stay that way, and I’m grateful for that.”
