MINT HILL, NC – Each year the Kiwanis Club of Mint Hill presents two $1,000 scholarships to deserving students from the Key Club at Independence High School. The money is raised throughout the year from various fundraising activities including the Kiwanis Club of Mint Hill’s annual golf tournament. A big thank you goes out to the members that work diligently to make sure these well-deserving students received the scholarships and thanks to all of the Kiwanis Club’s members for the hard work throughout the year to raise money to make the scholarships available. The Club’s college scholarships were presented during a Virtual Awards program this year (available for viewing on Independence High’s website), and the recipients are Brinly Denton and runner up Daniel Craig Lian UK.

Both recipients are so appreciative of behalf of the Key Club. Special thanks to Beth Hamrick, Lisa Lane, and Sue Davis for reviewing the scholarship applications; and a big Key Club thank you to Brad Simmons for getting T-shirts and graduation stoles for Key Club members. IHS Teacher and Key Club advisor, Lauren Zajac, delivered the stoles, and T-shirts were delivered to the students.
