On Monday, December 30, 2019 during the East Lincoln Winter Jam which will be a date and a place that Independence point guard Braylyn Milton will never forget, at the 4:27 mark of the third quarter, Braylyn drove down the lane and was fouled. She went to the charity stripe and knocked down a free throw to become a member of the exclusive 1,000-point club.

The junior point guard entered the game against Hough having scored 984 career points and needing 16 more to join the 1,000-point club.
After the game, I asked Braylyn if she knew that she needed that foul shot to reach the 1,000-point mark. Braylyn said, “No I didn’t know. I didn’t even know how many points I really needed. But after I made the foul shot, the crowd let me know and besides, I heard my mom cheering, and I knew. It feels good and it is really exciting to finally hit that mark. Now I got a lot more to look forward to.”
Indy’s coach Lauren Galvani said, “This was huge for Braylyn. She has done well for us. She has a lot more points to score, and it is exciting to see it for her. A thousand points is a big deal.”
