
MINT HILL, NC – The Independence men’s basketball team put up big numbers in the first and third quarters on their way to a 73-45 Southwestern 4A Conference win over the Butler Bulldogs on Tuesday night.
By the five-minute mark of the first quarter, the Patriots had jumped out to a 14-0 lead and built on that lead to a 32-10 first quarter finish.
In the second quarter, the Bulldogs held Indy to eight points but only managed six points of their own to trail 40-16 at the end of the first half.
Both teams had a productive third quarter. The Patriots added 25 points while Butler scored 15 points to make the score 65-31 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the final period, the Bulldogs outscored the Patriots 14-8 to make the final score 73-45. The Patriots remain undefeated 4-0 as they head into Friday’s home game against Garinger.

Indy’s Isaiah Thomas posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. He also had a blocked shot. Jalen Hinton led the Patriots with 15 points. Landon King poured in 11 points, had 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Amir Davenport scored 9 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals. Reginald Smith scored 8 points, pulled down 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 blocked shot.  Camren Little added 6 points, had 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot. Divine Allah scored 5 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 blocked shot. Tachai Miller had 4 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Dyshawn Taylor scored 3 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal. Ralph Johnson and Bryce Brooks had 3 rebounds each. Sabastian Taylor had 2 rebounds and 1 assist.
