Indy Spoils Garinger’s Homecoming 75-0

MINT HILL, NC – Due to the threat of inclement weather for Friday night, CMS moved all football games up one day to Thursday night.  With the changes, the Independence Patriots football team made the trip across town to Garinger High School to face off against the Garinger Wildcats on their homecoming night. When the final whistle sounded, the Patriots had spoiled the Wildcats’ homecoming by defeating them by a  sore of 75-0.

The Patriots racked up 511 yards of total offense and posted a 75-0 shutout win.  As a team, Indy rushed for 304 yards and eight rushing touchdowns.



Through the air, sophomore quarterback Justin Little completed 11-of-16 passes for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns while freshman quarterback Nick Reddish completed his only pass for six yards for a total of 207 passing yards.

In the first quarter, the Patriots posted 24 points.  Emmanuel Teah scored on a 2-yard run at the 8:58 mark. Daniel Locklear added the extra point for a 7-0 lead.  At 8:21 Shaun Soloman scored on another 2-yard run with Locklear adding the point after to make the score 14-0 .

With 4:18 showing on the clock, William Brown found the end-zone on a 9-yard pass from Justin Little, and Locklear’s kick put Indy up 21-0.  With four seconds left in the quarter, Locklear kicked a 24-yard field goal to give Indy a 24-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. With 8:02 left in the second quarter, Justin Little hit Joe Moraglia for a 20-yard touchdown pass, and with Locklear’s kick, Indy moved out to a 31-0 lead.  Justin Little scored on a 7-yard run. The extra point was good, and the Patriots increased their lead 38-0 with 5:15 left in the first half.

After recovering a Garinger fumble and moving the ball to the Wildcats’ one-yard line, Emmanuel Teah scored making the score 45-0.

With one minute left in the half, Shaun Soloman reached the end-zone on a 32-yard run to give Indy a 52-0 lead.

With four seconds left to play, Indy recovered a Wildcat fumble on the 16-yard line.  Daniel Locklear came in and ended the first half with a 26-yard field goal to make the halftime score 55-0.

The second half started with Indy receiving the opening kickoff.  With Indy having a 55-point lead, the second half was played with a continuous running clock.

Sincere McIntyre added to Indy’s point total on a 56-yard touchdown run.  The kick failed and Indy was up 61-0.

With 3:15 showing on the clock Justin Little, on a quarterback keeper, ran for a 70-yard touchdown, and the kick was good making the score 68-0 as the third quarter ended.

In the fourth quarter freshman quarterback, Nick Reddish ran 9-yards for the score to make the final score 75-0.

With the win Independence improved to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Next up Indy will host Providence in a Southwestern 4A contest.
