Independence splits games with Purnell Swett Game 2

MINT HILL, NC – In the nightcap, Purnell Swett took the victory beating the Patriots 12-6. However, the Patriots started the game by plating four first-inning runs. Indy’s designated hitter Brandon Moser led off with a single. WilsonLohrer followed with a base hit to center field. Carson Gesing came to the plate and doubled to center field scoring two runs. Luke Chantry drew a walk and PJ Chiles brought the runners home with a double putting Indyup 4-0.

Purnell Swett took the lead picking up a run in the bottom of the second and adding four more runs in the third to take a 5-4 lead.



After the Patriots picked up a run in the top of the fourth the Rams answered with three runs to take an 8-5 lead after four innings.

The Patriots scored their last run in the top of the fifth. Wilson Lohrerdoubled to the center-field wall and advanced to third on a Carson Gesingsingle. Taylor Moser hit a long sacrifice fly to right field to score Lohrer to make the score 8-6 with the Rams leading.

The Rams added a run in the bottom of the fifth and plated three more in the bottom of the sixth to take a 12-6 win over the Patriots.

Next up for the Patriots is the series with cross-town rivals Rocky River.
