
MINT HILL, NC – The Independence High School baseball team has had four of it’s players selected to the Southwestern Conference 4A All-Conference Team. The players are Wilson Lohrer, Carson Gesing, Brandon Moser, and Jake Stanley.
Two of the athletes stand out above the rest. They are seniors Wilson Lohrer who was named ‘Player of the Year’ and Carson Gesing ‘Pitcher of the Year.’
Wilson Lohrer – The senior outfielder pounded out 23 hits, 14 singles, 8 doubles, 1 triple, while adding 4 RBI’s, 19 runs, 7 base-on-balls, with a batting average of .548. His OBP .642, SLG .786, OPS 1.427, while fielding at 1.000 percent. He made a contribution on the mound for the Patriots hurling 16.1 innings, recorded a 1-1 win to loss record with 18 strikeouts.

Carson Gesing – The senior workhorse for the Independence Patriots hurled 39.2 innings on the mound, accumulated a 4-3 win to loss record, allowed 32 hits, 10 earned runs, 13 walks, 57 strikeouts, an ERA 1.765, and WHIP 1.134. While hitting at .295 clip, 13 hits, 11 RBI’s and OBP .367, SLG .386, and an OPS .754.
Brandon Moser – The senior 3B/DH power hitter was shutdown after 10 games this season due to an arm injury that required surgery after the season. He is recovering and is expected to play at the next level in college. He had 8 hits, drew 11 base-on-balls, along with slamming 2 homeruns, contributing 7 RBI’s, 13 runs, while batting .308. A respectable OBP .550, SLG .538, OPS 1.088.
Jake Stanley – The junior catcher/infielder in 14 games drilled 11 hits, 10 singles, 1 double, 7 RBI’s 10 runs, 5 walks, and a solid .306 batting average. His OBP .381, SLG .333, and OPS .714. While having a team leading 111 total chances fielding and making only 4 errors for a .964 fielding percentage.
