Independence Patriots’ football team celebrates Earth Day

On Sunday afternoon under the supervision of Indy’s head football coach Mike Natoli and assistant coach Brad Van Horn the Independence Patriots’ football team celebrated Earth Day by having a clean up day in the Town of Mint Hill.  Before the players got started, the coaches went over safety procedures and complimented the players on their community service.

The players divided up into two teams with a coach leading each team.  Our student athletes showed pride in their community as they picked up paper, cups, cigarette butts and, yes, the players were even brave enough to pick up gum.  The clean up started with policing all the parking lots around Town Hall.  Our players picked up trash in the back and in the front of the businesses along Highway 51, down to the police department, and worked their way to Lawyers Road.  Great job guys!
