MINT HILL, NC – Starting April 1, the hunt is on for 24 giant Easter eggs hidden all around town!
This is the second year for the community-wide Easter egg hunt “Hop Around Mint Hill.” Born from the need to engage the community during COVID, the event was such a success that the Town decided to do it again this year. “Because of COVID, we had to get creative in 2020-2021,” says Mint Hill Events Assistant Cassie Brooks. “We had a huge response that we decided to continue the tradition. In 2021, we had over 1400 entries!”
“We invited local businesses to participate this year,” continues Brooks. “Our goal is to bring people together and encourage them to shop local.”
If you participated last year, you’re already familiar with how “Hop Around Mint Hill” will work. Beginning April 1, make sure to follow @MintHillEvents on Facebook – that’s where you’ll find clues that lead you to the 24 eggs. You can expect to find eggs at local businesses, parks, and in the downtown area. When you find an egg, scan the QR code on the back to be entered in a drawing for one of four $25 Visa gift cards.
“Hop Around Mint Hill” is just one example of the many ways the Town of Mint Hill was able to adapt over the last two years and invent new ways to bring the community together during a time when many beloved traditions had to be put on hold. The excitement over its continuation as we begin to move past strict social distancing and masking requirements is evidence of the strong community spirit our small town has.
“We had so much fun last year reading the clues posted daily on the Facebook page and trying to figure out where the eggs were hidden!” said mom of two Erica Larter. “My boys loved telling their friends where they found eggs. It was such a fun way to bring the community together safely last year, and we’re excited to do it again this year!”
As we begin to move past COVID-related restrictions, the Town of Mint Hill is excited to announce its first “Music and Brews Night.” The event will be held May 21 at Mint Hill Veterans Memorial Park and will feature the band Coconut Groove. Olde Meck Brewery will be serving various craft beers and there will be a variety of food vendors. Music and Brews Night will kick off at 6:30 pm with the concert starting at 7:00 pm. The event is open to people of all ages.
“This event is unlike any of our past events,” says Brooks. “Our goal was to create an event that was different from our Family Fun Nights and catered more toward the adult crowd.”
