
Mallard Creek Mavericks (9-0) are still the only undefeated football team in Mecklenburg County. The Mavericks continue their winning ways at 9-0 and remain a solid No. 1 by most observers for the eighth straight week in a row with a 27-18 win over North Mecklenburg.
Harding Rams (9-1) are this writer’s choice for the No.2 team in the County. Another week and a 53-0 shutout of South Mecklenburg after they romped past Ardrey Kell 40-13 the previous week.
Myers Park Mustangs (8-1) The Mustangs defeated East Mecklenburg 36-13 this past Friday night. They also beat Hickory Ridge 9-7 head to head to earn themselves the No. 3 spot in the County.
Hickory Ridge Ragin’ Bulls (8-1) Won in a shoot out in a high scoring game with the Butler Bulldogs and coming out on top 43-42 on a two point conversion for the victory. Therefore, propelling themselves ahead of the Bulldogs in the elite eight.
Butler Bulldogs (6-2) The dogs lost a conference game to the Ragin’ Bulls on Friday night moving them down the list to the No. 5 position.  Even though Butler, Hickory Ridge and Myers Park are all 4-1 in the Southwestern 4A Conference beating up on each other as the class teams of the conference. Their two losses moves the Bulldogs lower on the list.
Hough Huskies (7-2) The Huskies are on a roll and have been a hot team since their 0-2 start. They have won 7 consecutive games including a 35-34 victory over North Mecklenburg two weeks ago. This past Friday night they defeated West Charlotte 22-7 to keep their streak alive.
Vance Cougars (7-2) The Cougars romped over Lake Norman on Friday night 70-12 in a non-conference game at home. Lake Norman was no match for the Cougars.
North Mecklenburg Vikings  (7-2) The Vikings lost on Friday night to No. 1 Mallard Creek 27-18 in a good competitive football game. However, they lost to Hough the previous week in a squeaker and have now lost two consecutive games. They should right this ship next Friday night.
Football Fans Take Note: This Friday night 10/27 at 7:00 pm two local Mint Hill rivals will slug it out at Independence High School when the Rocky River Ravens take on the Patriots which should be an exciting and entertaining football game under the lights. Come on out and support your team!
