MINT HILL, NC – On Monday, May 15, GB Electrical Services teamed up with nonprofit lawn care company One Yard Away to clean up the grounds at the Mint Hill Historical Society.

“We were looking for an opportunity to have a team building event in the community, and being electricians, the guys are very handy,” explained Marketing Coordinator Angie Cox, “so we hooked up with Chen and asked, ‘When and where can we help?’”  Chen Correll, owner of One Yard Away, suggested the Mint Hill Historical Society.  “I thought, that’s perfect,” continued Cox.  “It’s in Mint Hill; it’s helping within the community.”

Around eighteen volunteers from GB Electrical, including owners Greg and Nicki, came out to the Historical Society on Monday morning to pull weeds, clean up trash and leaves, and just generally clean up the grounds.  Scheduled from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, the team wrapped up their work in just an hour – a testament to what many hands can accomplish in a short time.

Their efforts were a gift to the Historical Society, which is entirely volunteer-funded and maintained.  “We have faithful volunteers who come regularly, but the village is not small,” said Sue Todd.  “It’s a big job, and it is constant maintenance.  You have to stay on top of things, or it can get away quickly.”

“What these guys are doing, it would take weeks to get this done,” she continued.  “They’ve done it in a matter of an hour.  The historical society is so blessed by the generosity of people who give their time to help sustain and perpetuate the history of Mint Hill and of our country.  History is so important, and when children and people see where we were compared to where we are, it shows them how their imagination is the only thing that can slow down progress.”

GB Electrical is currently offering 15% off any service scheduled in May with a donation of a toiletry item for Sunflower Cafe Outreach.  “When you make your appointment, let us know where you heard about the 15% off,” says Cox.  “You can give your donation to the technician when you have your service completed.”  Visit https://getthebestelectric.com/ or call (980) 500-2378 to schedule service.

GB Electrical also hosted Business After Hours with the Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce on May 23.  The event was not only a way for Mint Hill’s business owners to connect and network after work but also a way to celebrate GB Electrical Services’ 15-year anniversary in the community.
