The senior 5’10” point guard has shown his quickness, versatility, and leadership on the basketball court in the first five games of the season for the Patriots. In his previous two games this past week he scored 15 and 20 points in each game. He appears to have settled into his role as a team player.
Hinton is a competitor who plays both ends of the floor with consistency. He usually takes on the challenge of guarding the opponents best perimeter player. He is unselfish, will get other teammates involved, will push the ball up court, and quickly get into the flow of the game. He is the ultimate team player and is a good fit for the system coach Preston Davis employs at Independence. He sets the tempo on offense, and is tenacious defensively for the Patriots.
In the first five games this season, the senior is averaging 13.8 points per game, is shooting about 50% from the floor, 75% free throws, has added 7 assists, 10 steals, and 7 rebounds, while leading the team with 69 points to make a significant contribution.
The Mint Hill Times sports editor and sports writers want to congratulate Jalen Hinton for being selected this weeks “Featured Player of the Week.”
