MINT HILL, NC – For the second consecutive week the 6’2″, 210 pound senior Carson Gesing has been selected the “Featured Player of the Week.” The Independence hurler pitched a no-hitter against East Mecklenburg while allowing just 3 base runners facing 22 batters pitching a full seven innings of outstanding baseball.

Gesing “The Bulldog”  was brilliant as he accumulated 13 strikeouts, allowed only 2 walks and one Eagle reached first base on an infield error. In the top of the seventh inning he struck out the first two batters, walked a batter on a close 3-2 pitch, then proceeded to strike out the final batter to end the game in which he dominated the Eagles line-up.

On the season to date as of this writing the Patriot ace has pitched 12.0 innings, has allowed 2 earned runs, 8 walks, and has 19 strikeouts. His ERA is a solid 1.167, with a WHIP .917.

He also contributed on offense in the Patriots sweep of the Eagles this week with some key hits and runs batted in to make a valuable contribution offensively.

The Mint Hill Times Sports Editor and sports writers want to congratulate Carson Gesing for being nominated as this week’s “Featured Player of the Week” based on his dominating performance pitching a no-hitter against East Mecklenburg this past Tuesday at home.
