MINT HILL, NC – Family Fun Nights are back for Summer 2023!  Beginning in May, the Town of Mint Hill will once again host a series of family-friendly concerts  and fun at Mint Hill Veterans Park

On May 20, from 6:30 pm – 9:oo pm, Family Fun Night returns to the park with music from Coconut Groove, a Charlotte-based band specializing in a wide variety of Classic Rock.  Expect Coconut Groove Band to perform a wide range of songs you’re sure to know from genres such as Soul, Rhythm & Blues, Americana, Rock ‘n Roll, Hard Rock, Pop, Funk and Blues.

The Family Fun Zone will feaure inflatables, bocce ball, Connect 4, giant Jenga, and cornhole.

Just like last year, the night will kick off at 6:30 pm with games in the Family Fun Zone sponsored by Mint Hill Orthodontics.  The Family Fun Zone will have entertainment for kids of all ages like inflatables, bocce ball, giant Jenga, Connect 4 and cornhole.

This year, Mint Hill Events is committed to including an expanded selection of food vendors that offer a variety of cuisines.  On May 20, you can expect to see vegan food from Ve-Go, empanadas from A Tana Empanada, brats, hot dogs and nachos from Thrasher Dogs, and sweet treats from Mama K’s Kettle Corn, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, and Boss Lady Lemonade.  “You will find a variety of food trucks being offered at events throughout the year,” ensures Mint Hill Events Assistant Cassie Brooks.

Note that the May 20 Family Fun Night will be held on softball field at Mint Hill Veterans Memorial Park instead of the upper soccer field like last year.  “You will notice the new synthetic turf fields that replaced the grass soccer fields,” explains Brooks.  “We are still currently under construction.  We are targeting July 2023 as the reopening date.”

Although children and families are welcome at all events, Music & Brews features beer vendors and cornole and lacks the Family Fun Zone you'll see at Family Fun Nights.

May 20 is just the beginning of a series of family-friendly entertainment that will last all summer long.  On June 17, High Fidelity will play at Music & Brews night.  July 15 will be another Family Fun Night with Pluto for Planet; August 19 will be Music & Brews with Ross Coppley Band, and Smokin’ Gunn will close out the summer on September 16 with another Family Fun Night.

The decision to alternate Family Fun Nights with Music & Brews is part of Mint Hill Events’ goal to create entertainment opportunities throughout the summer both for those with and without families.  “Although everyone is welcome at both events, Family Fun Night has inflatables and a Kid Zone while Music & Brews has beer and cornhole,” explains Brooks.  Both events are possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of Mint Hill Orthodontics and Edifice, Inc.

Family Fun Nights are free to attend, and guests are encouraged to bring chairs – but please leave dogs at home.  “We love your four-legged friends, but we kindly ask that you leave them at home during events,” says Brooks.  “Service animals are always welcome.”  Family fun starts at 6:30 pm on May 20, and music starts at 7:00 pm.  For more information on Family Fun Nights, Music & Brews, and everything else happening in Mint Hill, make sure to follow Mint Hill Events on social media at @MintHillEvents.
