MINT HILL, NC – Mother’s Day is just around the corner!  From a day in to a day out to a day alone, here are some great ideas for celebrating the special women in your life.

Flowers are a classic Mother’s Day gift that never goes out of style!  Across the nation, florists were busier than they had ever been before for Mother’s Day 2020.  “Why were some shops 50% busier than they were for other Mother’s Days?” asks Suzanne Wolf of Abbey Rose Floral Artistry.  “Because if you couldn’t be with your loved ones, the obvious second choice was a ‘hug’ from a custom-designed, beautiful arrangement.  Shopping outside the box is exhausting!” she continues.  “Why bother when you can give nothing more thrilling, exciting, and fulfilling than flowers designed just for you?”  Give Abbey Rose Floral Artistry a call at (704) 545-4900 to help you design the perfect arrangement for mom..

Moms work day in and day out to take care of everyone else.  Mother’s Day is the perfect time to take care of mom for a change!  “Massages for Mother’s Day are a wonderful reward for all our moms do,” says Lisa Lane, owner of Massage Sanctuary.  “A massage embodies all that we want in our busy schedules: a time to relax, unwind, to be quiet and still, and to give our minds some rest as well.  Once a year every mom should enjoy a time that celebrates her!”  Learn more about Massage Sanctuary’s therapists and how to book an appointment at https://ncmassagesanctuary.massagetherapy.com/.

Another great way to pamper mom is with a soothing foot soak from Soothe the Soles.  Owner Sandy Harrison offers a signature foot soak experience intended to heal the body, calm the mind and nourish the soul.  Contact Sandy at (704) 608-6164 to take advantage of her Mother’s Day Special: a foot soak, tea and a treat for two for only $49.

If family time is the way your partner would prefer to spend her special day, Mint Hill offers several unique options.  From May 3 – 8, The Old Haigler Inn is offering “Tea at the Inn” at the Lodge, a custom, modern 10,000 square foot log cabin situated on 200 acres of rolling hills.  Indoor and outdoor tables seat up to four and include a variety of specialty Tea Forte hot teas, sugars, honey, lemon and locally sourced store-bought pastries and fruit.  After a formal tea, guests will be tour the Lodge grounds and pavilion, relax by the fire in the Lodge’s main gathering room and stroll under the outdoor twinkle lights, providing plenty of time to enjoy your tea and conversation with loved ones.

“This is a great time to treat your mom or  someone special in your life to a time to reconnect in a beautiful atmosphere over a formal tea,” says host Starr.  “We’ll create the perfect experience with everything you need – come and escape to a world with less noise and full of calm and quiet, a place you’ll never want to leave.”  The last “Tea at the Inn” is currently scheduled for May 8, but Starr hopes to add more dates in the future.  Learn more about Tea at the Inn and book a reservation here.

On Mother’s Day from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, The Sunflower Club (located at 11211 Lawyer’s Road) will host a grand opening to celebrate moms and introduce the community to the new membership club’s merchants and mission.  With gifts for the first 50 moms in attendance and a bounce house for the kids, The Sunflower Club is a great local mother’s day outing.  They’ll also be raffling off free meals and coffee for a year and offering up yummy, allergen-free baked goods and hot and cold drinks.

Part restaurant and part nonprofit outreach, the Sunflower Club is open to the public 7:00 am to 2:00 pm weekdays for breakfast and brunch and serves meals to the hungry in our community on Saturdays.  “This last year has been so hard on families, and not just those with low income,” says AmySue Salvatore, who owns the club with partner Sarah McGinn.  “Hard working people have lost their jobs and we think it’s important for families to get back some normalcy. Going out and enjoying a meal together isn’t possible for many families and we want to make that happen.”  Learn more about the Sunflower Club at https://sunflowerclub.org/.

Family outings can be a lot of fun, but sometimes a mom just needs a day off!  “A day by myself!” laughs Jamie Jackson when asked what she wants for Mother’s Day.  With three kids under eight, she admits the odds of getting a whole day to herself are unlikely, but she’d accept someone else taking care of meals for a day as an alternative.

Vintner's Hill is the perfect destination for a moms' afternoon or evening out.

Although Jackson laughs at the idea of a day to herself, she’s not alone.  “My ideal Mother’s Day is a massage and lunch with friends,” says Kaitlyn Betts.  Vintner’s Hill is the perfect place to send your partner, spouse or mom for an afternoon off.  “Vintner’s Hill is the perfect place for a mom’s day out, brunch, or night out due to our expanded breakfast menu, Sunday brunch and the large selections of wine both by the bottle and the glass,” says Owner Michelle Hitchcock.  “A great way to finish off your meal is our dessert selections and espresso menu!”  Vintner’s Hill is offering brunch on Mother’s Day by reservation only.  To make a reservation, call (980) 237-0457.

Ask any mom to see a photo of her kids, and she’ll likely have hundreds on her phone, but when is the last time mom appeared in a photo?  Sandy Harrison at Photographic Elegance can help you fix that.  This Mother’s Day, consider treating your partner to “mommy and me” or family photos at Photographic Elegance.  Throughout the month of May Harrison is offering free portrait sessions with no obligation to purchase.  “If you love the images, packages are available starting at $329!” says Harrison.  To book a portrait session, call Photographic Elegance at (704) 598-9099.

At the end of the day, Mother’s Day isn’t about picking the best or most extravagant gift.  It’s about knowing your partner, spouse, mom or grandma and understanding what will make them feel special and loved.  “Every Mothers Day we go to a nursery and I pick out a new tree for the yard,” says mom of two Stephanie Logeman.  “We always buy something for the garden,” adds Nykei Bolgrin.  “Last year we got knock out roses, but my first one he got me a really nice patio set. This year I told him I want azaleas for my butterfly/fairy garden.”

Sometimes kind actions speak louder than fancy presents or extravagant plans.  “I like a day with the kids doing something fun like the zoo, but also a day where I don’t have to do the dishes or cook or do laundry,” says mom of two Erica Larter, who’s also careful to specify that the “gift” is taking care of the chores – not leaving them for mom to do tomorrow.  “I would like a day to relax,” says Jinna Bryant.  “Be able to take a long nap, have all meals planned, cooked or ordered for me. With a bouquet of wildflowers!”
