Work at the newest Carillon Assisted Living community is nearly complete, and the result is a beautiful addition to Mint Hill. The facility opened its doors for tours this past Saturday, and the facility is expected to be open to new residents by August 8th.

The community located on Margaret Wallace Road has 48 apartments and will accommodate 70 to 75 residents. These will include folks who need help with daily living as well as residents who would benefit from a specialized memory care program such as those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Richard Harris, Senior Regional Director of Marketing, says Carillon is designed along the lines of a gracious southern home with well-appointed, intimate spaces. The wrap-around covered porches with Carolina rockers, living rooms, private dining rooms, and garden courtyards give resident space to visit with their loved ones.

A covered patio with pergola provides a lovely view of the pond for residents and their families to enjoy.

Sneak Peek Open House

Executive Director Sara Rigsby will be hosting a Sneak Peek Open House on Thursday, July 20th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The community is invited to look around the facility at the tasteful décor, country kitchens, and dining rooms complete with chandeliers. The media room will be up and running with a flat screen T.V. and billiards table.

Carillon Mint Hill has already received applicants for both the assisted living and the memory care areas of the facility. Residents will be able to choose either a private room or a companion room depending on their preference. The facility also has a selection of rooms appropriate for a married couple with a bedroom and separate living room. Each room has a kitchenette with an area for a small refrigerator and coffee maker.

For those who are unable to attend Thursday’s open house, Carillon will be conducting private tours for prospective residents and others who are interested in seeing the grounds.

At the Sneak Peek Open House on Thursday, July 20th, visitors can see model bedrooms and other living areas.

“Coping and the Dementia Caregiver” with noted author, Mary Ann Drummond

Carillon has events scheduled for each of the next four weekends leading up to the opening of the facility. A dementia care presentation called “Coping and the Dementia Caregiver:  Innovative Strategies for Success” will be led by noted author and Carillon’s own, Mary Ann Drummond. on Saturday, July 22nd from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Attendees will be given tips for caregivers on how to safely and successfully provide care for their loved ones with dementia and Alzheimer’s in the home environment. The public is invited to this important event and can RSVP by calling 704-550-3853. Click here for more information.

Select rooms at Carillon Assisted Living feature a separate living room within the apartment for added comfort and relaxation.

A Good Fit

For those who are thinking of Carillon Mint Hill as their next home, Richard Harris has a few tips on making sure the facility is a good fit. “We are particularly interested in a resident’s social and activity interests,” he says. “It’s important to the development of our resident’s social and activity programs as well as our volunteer effort that we understand as much as we can about residents’ interests, including the community or church groups they participate in so that we can host those meetings at our community.”

Already, Idlewild Baptist Church has committed to holding a service for residents in August. The new Activities Director for the facility hopes that churches can visit on a rotational basis to hold multi-denominational services for residents who aren’t able to make it to their own churches.

Carillon Assisted Living in located at 5601 Margaret Wallace Road.

A home-grown company

“Carillon is a North Carolina-based, home-grown company that is known statewide for its reputation for excellence in care,” Rigsby says.
