MINT HILL, NC – Community members from the town of Mint Hill gathered on Thursday, April 21, for the 10th Annual Blessed Assurance Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament, held at the Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation, raised money to assist in the care of disabled veterans, seniors, and adults suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other illnesses.

Blessed Assurance Adult Day Care, the organization behind the tournament, provides services that include meals, recreational activities, hygiene assistance, medication supervision, health services, and more to meet the needs of those that they serve. Nate Huggins, CEO of Blessed Assurance, announced the beginning of the tournament following breakfast from Metro Diner and a presentation from the Butler High School Color Guard. Huggins’ announcements began with a discussion of the mission of the tournament and his organization.

“This organization was established back in 1998 to simply serve our disabled population,” Huggins said. “Most of these guys have Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, PTSD, diabetes, hypertensions, and all kinds of other diseases. During the daytime, we provide them with a safe haven where they can get breakfast, lunch, and an evening snack. They get their bathing services, their recreational activities, and at the end of the day they are able to be back in their own homes with their own families.”

Huggins continued on to explain how grateful the organization is for all of the support that they receive from the tournament and elsewhere in the community.

“We have a lot of churches, local businesses, city groups, individuals, and members of the government represented here today that have supported us from the very start. We are blessed to have a God-fearing group in our board of directors, some that have been with us from day one. I want you to know that we have a lot of great sponsors. This couldn’t happen without these guys making these sacrifices.”

As the tournament began to wind down, Huggins announced that the tournament was a major success, and thanked the community for their support once more. Huggins encourages members of the Mint Hill community to come out again next year for the 11th annual tournament.

“I want to thank the community at large for helping us raise the greatest amount of money and have the greatest participation in our golf tournament to date,” Huggins said. “It’s because of these great people, and you, that we have been able to help our disabled veterans, seniors, and special-needs adults participate in life each and every day. God bless you, and see you next year on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at our 11th annual charity golf tournament to support disabled veterans, senior citizens, and special needs adults.”
