Bain Elementary students Evan Cavalline and Ben Strand were hoisting the flag to half-mast on the morning of May 27, a few days after the Uvalade, Texas school shooting.
A Mint Hill police officer who was at the school to provide extra reassurance to staff and students offered to help the boys.
