Back to School, Back to You

It’s been hot. It’s been long. It’s been noisy. It’s been fun. And now it’s gone.

Summer, the most duplicit time of the year. It’s when mothers rejoice in perspective of having hours of quality time with their offspring, passing on all that hard-learned wisdom and life-lessons that years of experience has instilled in her.

It’s when the lax schedules and warm weather bring endless opportunities for outdoor adventures and family bonding. It’s when sibling fights and heart-stopping screeches fill the ever-shrinking space of the minivan. It’s when “she’s looking at me”, and “he’s breathing my air” makes parents second guess the choice to drive to the beach instead of fly. It’s when spending the summer as a family means spending the summer as a family.

But now, for better or for worse, it’s over. Summers slipped away and the shorter days of autumn are upon us as. Kids are going back to school and for some moms that means more time for themselves. If you’re one of those mothers who is lucky enough to be able to eek out a little more “me” time now that the kids have returned to their books, you may be wondering just what you will do with the newly acquired freedom.

While I’m sure cleaning under the furniture and reorganizing sock drawers are high on your lists of desires, how about considering something a little more “inviting” during these peaceful moments. Some ideas for Tri-W area moms looking for something new.
