August Mint Hill Town Hall Meeting Recap

MINT HILL, NC – The Mayor and Board of Commissioners held their monthly public hearing on Thursday, August 12. The meeting ran for about 45 minutes and the primary topics of interest will be reported in this recap of events.

The consent agenda was approved unanimously by the Commissioners. The members all agreed to accept the following items, which were approved.

a. The July tax collector’s report. b. Public hearing date of September 9, 2021, for property located at 1433 Idlewild Road, tax parcel 195-231-01, filed by Epcon Mint Hill, LLC, to be considered for annexation by the Town of Mint Hill. c. Tax collector’s settlement for the fiscal year 2021, and order of collection resolution. d. Resolution regarding the American Rescue plan fund. e. Direct the Town Clerk to investigate the sufficiency of the petition of property located at 14250 Cabarrus Road, 11026 Tyler Brook Lane, and 11032 Tyler Brook Lane under tax parcel 139-401-02, filed by Alma Properties, LLC, to be considered for annexation. f. June treasurer’s reports and financials. g. 2020 audit reports. h. Audit contract with Ann R. Craven, CPA, PLLC, and engagement letter.

The motion and decision on docket item #ZC21-6 were both approved unanimously. It pertains to a rezoning request to allow a church or place of worship to be built on the property located at 5345 and 5341 Wilgrove Mint Hill Road by Richard A. Peniston, Attorney. The request is covered under the Unified Development Ordinance, a table of permissible uses which allows consideration of churches in the residential district through conditional zoning. The request was considered reasonable by the Town Planning Board.

Docket item # ZC21-10 filed by the Town of Mint Hill to amend section 6.1.A (B) of the unified development ordinance to allow four unites rather than three was approved. However, the 4-unit cap cannot be exceeded.

Docket item # ZC21-4, filed by the City of Charlotte to construct an elevated water tower at 12901 Palomino Drive has been deferred until September 9, 2021, at the request of the City of Charlotte.

Docket item # ZC21-5 filed by Souder Properties, Inc. – request to allow a rezoning to build a business park and storage development project located at 10821 and 10905 Blair Road – was approved. The Mint Hill Town Planning Board recommendation to the Board Of Commissioners was based on their findings that the developer’s request is reasonable and in the public interest as presented and reviewed by the petition filed. The Commissioners unanimously approved this project.
