Independence Patriots

Football: 

Shai Wheeler – The senior caught a touchdown pass for 27 yards, intercepted a pass at the goal line, and returned a kick-off for 90 yards in the Patriots 32-18 win over the Pirates. Was also selected as this weeks “Featured Player of the Week.”

Arnold Taylor – The Patriots junior quarterback tossed two touchdown passes of 27 and 52 yards, and ran for a rushing touchdown for 10 yards on Friday night to lead the Patriots to their fourth win of the season.

Davion Nelson – The junior running back had another solid night rushing the football. He accumulated 76 tough yards unofficially on the ground.

Jeremy Phillips – The junior defensive back would pick-up a late game fumble in the final minutes of the fourth quarter to score a touchdown clinching the game victory for Independence.



Honorable Mention: Goes to the Patriots defense. In particular the play of Ronnell Garrett and Tyson Clawson, with multiple tackles, Ethan Safreit with two QB sacks, Omar Zazueta, applying consistent pressure on the opposing quarterback, and Elijah Puranda from his defensive back position.

Volleyball: 

Elizabeth Andrews – The senior has played 29 sets, has 34 kills, averages 1.2 kills per set, with a 44.7 kill percentage, 76 attack attempts, 14 attack errors, .263 hitting percentage, a 91.7 serve percentage rate, including a team leading 11 blocks this season for the Lady Patriots.

Queens Grant Stallions: 

Soccer: 

Micah Parker – In 15 games played the senior midfielder leads the team with 31 total points which consists of 1 assist and 15 goals scored to date.

Carlos Ressillas – The junior midfielder and accurate passer has set-up many goals by accumulating 12 assists along with 4 goals for a total of 20 points on the season.

Rocky River Ravens: 

Football: 

Isaiah Mcilwain – The wide receiver had 6 receptions for a total of 94 yards.

Antjuan Collins – A reliable receiver who had 2 pass catches for 59 yards and one touchdown.

Honorable Mention: Two defensive players and leader Brian Grier led with 13 tackles and Jaquan Scott accumulated 12 tackles on Friday night for the Ravens.
