Independence Patriots

Girls Softball:



Terris Adkins – The junior went 2-4 and had 7 putouts at shortstop in the state playoff game against Northern Guilford. On the season she batted .486, 11 doubles, 3 triples, and 15 RBI’s.

Elizabeth Garbark – Another solid junior led the Patriots in their first round state playoff  game going 3-4 with a triple to drive in  3 runs. She posted a .419 BA, 8 doubles, 3 triples, blasted 3 home runs while driving in 29 RBI’s.

Kristen Kirby – The senior went 2-3 in her final game as a Patriot with 1 RBI. She had a  .295 BA, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, and 15 RBI’s this season.

Morgan Clark – The freshman pitcher hurled her way to an excellent season against good competition. She was the Lady Patriots workhorse on the mound all season. She will only get better and stronger. She tossed 6.1 innings in the state playoff game allowing only 2 earned runs on 83 pitches and 2 base-on-balls. On the season she posted a 2.81 ERA, worked 97 innings, 15 BB, 49 strikeouts, 39 earned runs, while facing 465 batters.

Queen’s Grant Stallions

Girls Softball:

Abi Sawyers – The sophomore had a dominating performance in the Stallions first round state playoff win over Bethany tossing 7 innings, no base-on-balls, 14 strikeouts, allowed no earned runs, and just 1 hit. On offense she led the Stallions with .565 BA, 52 RBI’s, 12 doubles, 3 triples, and 8 home runs.

Alyssa Steele – An upcoming freshmen had a career day going 4-4, 2 RBI’s, 1 double, 2 triples, and a base hit just missing hitting for the cycle. On the season she posted a .455 BA, 1 double, 4 triples, 2 home runs with 15 RBI’s.

Liz Finter – Another freshman with upside potential went 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s in the state playoff victory over Bethany. She posted a solid .417 BA, 6 doubles, 3 triples, 17 RBI’s.

Baseball: 

Alwin Duran – The Stallions senior ended his high school career with a solid season. He posted a .556 BA, 25 hits, 34 RBI’s, 7 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs, with an OBP .608, SLG% 1.111, OPS 1.719. A certain selection to the Metro Eight 1A Conference team, and a potential All-State selection in Class 1A.
