
Independence Patriots
Basketball:
Tosh Alberga – A promising and improving sophomore scored 12 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, added 4 blocks, 2 deflections, 3 assists, and 1 steal in the Patriots must needed win over the Wildcats Friday night. He was named “Player of the Game.”
Ralph Johnson – The senior stepped up his game scoring 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 deflections, and 1 steal in the win over Garinger.
Kameron Jasper – Another upcoming sophomore contributed 8 points, while adding 6 assists and 1 steal in the win over the Wildcats.
Girls Basketball:
Chloe Moss – The consistent sophomore had her best game of the season scoring 15 points, grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double to lead the Patriots over the Wildcats.
Tamia Burgess – The senior showed her leadership on Friday night by scoring 6 points, and hauling down 7 rebounds while plying solid defense for the Lady Patriots.
Kaylee Carson – The athletic sophomore and team leading scorer did not have a big night offensively with 9 points. She contributed with 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 steals, 1 block, with a good defensive effort.
Kamryn Kitchen – The freshman struggling of late offensively scored 6 points against the Wildcats. She is a complete player contributing 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, crisp passing with solid defense.
Rocky River Ravens:
Basketball:
Javares Green – A team leader scored 17 points grabbed 5 rebounds, and added 5 assists in a solid effort Friday night against the Cougars. Green was named “Player of the Game” by the coaching staff.
Henry Price – Oh Henry, he had a game, the 6’5″ junior banged with the big boys from Catholic scoring 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and added 1 steal to lead the high flying Ravens past the Cougars in a huge conference win.
Anthony James franchi – The 6’3″ senior makes a significant contribution in various ways for the Ravens. First his toughness under the boards, he hauled down 9 rebounds, 2 deflections, and scored 4 tough points inside the paint.
Will Ham – The senior guard scored 8 points, had 4 rebounds, and most importantly drilled 5-6 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory for the Ravens.
Butler Bulldogs:
Basketball:
Ty Black – The senior was selected as “Player of the Week” based on his recent performance averaging 21.3 points per game against East Mecklenburg, Garinger, and Providence. He scored a game high 24 points on Friday night against the Eagles.
Zion Mcduffie – The junior continues to shine for the Bulldogs. He scored 18 points against the Eagles. During the season he is averaging 17.5 points per game, has 106 rebounds, 47 steals, 31 blocks, and three double-doubles.
Girls Basketball:
Brooklyn Saunders – The freshman guard took command against the Eagles on Friday night. She led all scorers with 27 points, pulled down 6 rebounds, 6 steals, and shot 9-12 from the free throw line for 75%.
