MINT HILL, NC – Registration is now open for Arlington Baptist Church’s fifth annual Great Commission 5k!

“It’s coming up on April 1st, and you don’t want to miss it!” says Pastor Rick in a video posted on Arlington Baptist Church’s social media.  “There’s something for everyone: you can run the race, you can walk the race, there’s a kids fun run – there’s even going to be a bounce house for the little kids.”

The Great Commission 5k & Kids Fun Run raises money for Arlington’s mission work both locally and abroad.  This year, Arlington’s youth and adults will be taking mission trips to Elizabethton, TN, and Honduras, where they’ll focus on meeting residents’ physical and spiritual needs in practical ways.

“We started a partnership with Honduras last year,” explains Joseph Smith, who emphasizes the importance of Arlington’s continuing responsibility to that area.  “We started with a children’s outreach, a construction project for a local home, training of local pastors, and training church members to do prayer ministry.”  In Elizabethton, students in sixth through twelfth grades will focus on social missions working in nursing homes, food pantries and homeless shelters.

The 5k sets off from Arlington Baptist Church at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 1, and runs primarily through the Summerwood neighborhood.  Walkers and runners of all abilities are welcome.  The Kids Fun Run, a quarter-mile run around campus, will begin at 10:00 am.  “It’s just an opportunity for kis to get involved,” says Smith.  “There will be a bounce house at the end.  We’re trying to make it as much of a family event as possible.”

It’s just $25 to register for the 5k through March 10, and only $10 for the Kids Run Run.  Note that prices increase to $35 and $15 respectively on March 11, and there is a small service fee added to process your race registration.  Morning-of registration is allowed.

There are also several ways that business leaders in our community can participate in this important effort in addition to running.  Opportunities to support Arlington’s mission work and get your business’ name out there on race day start at just $150 for a booth in Arlington’s “Runner’s Village” or a small logo on the official race shirt.  For the ultimate way to make sure your branding is heard loud and clear on race day, consider becoming a Race Sponsore with a large logo on the shirt, a table in the Runner’s Village and continual promotion from the MC on race day.  Reach out to Arlington Baptist at (704) 545-4589 for more information about sponsorship.

Arlington Baptist’s Great Commission 5k and Fun Run is a great way to get some exercise will supporting a great cause!  Visit to sign up today!
