Four new faces introduced themselves at Tuesday’s luncheon: Liz Foster, who is excited to join Novant Health as a Community Engagement Partner;  Aynsley Girardeau from Mint Hill Eye; new Chamber member Reggie Tamez from Charlotte Plumbing Solutions; and Lisa Blankeship from GB electrical, who recently moved their offices from Wilgrove-Mint Hill Road to Morris Park .

Present at Tuesday’s luncheon from the Board of Commissioners were Commissioners Tony Long and Twanna Henderson and Mayor Pro Tem Dale Dalton.  Board of Directors Liaison, Dalton shared news from Town Hall.  The Grove Hall, Ashley Plantation and Forrest Brook subdivisions recently had their speed limits lowered from 35 mph to 25 mph.  LED lighting for the soccer fields and tennis courts at Veterans Park and Wilgrove Park were approved and will be installed soon.  The Town’s first “Music & Brews” event will take place at Veterans Park on May 21, and Family Fun Nights will start in June.  To keep up on everything going on around Town and in Town Hall, make sure to follow the Town of Mint Hill and Mint Hill Events on Facebook.

The Chamber welcomed two new members at Tuesday’s luncheon.  Melissa Tamez accepted a new member plaque for her husband Reggie, who recently opened Charlotte Plumbing Solutions.  As a resident of Mint Hill, Reggie is particularly well-poised to handle all your plumbing needs.  Liz Foster accepted a plaque on behalf of her colleagues at Novant Health Go Health Urgent Care and noted that the Urgent Care center expects to be hiring new practitioners soon.

One of the highlights of April’s Member Luncheon was the presentation of the 2021 Business Partner of the Year and Ambassador of the Year awards.  The Business Partner of the Year award is given to an individual who supports the mission of the Chamber, actively promoting and collaborating with businesses to achieve the Chamber’s goal of a connected community.  The Chamber was proud to present the 2021 Business Partner of the Year to Anna Granger.

“Anna is just the epitome of a Business Partner of the Year,” said McKinney.  “Every time I call her, she immediately says, ‘It’s yes.  What do you need?’  We’re so very grateful not only for her involvement in our community but also in our Chamber.”

The 2021 Ambassador of the Year was presented to James Rountree of Handyman Solutions.  A humble man who prefers to fly under the radar, Rountree can always be counted on to be a true ‘goodwill arm’ of the Chamber.  “He shows up at the Chamber every week asking, ‘What can I do?’” said McKinney.  “If you’re a new member, he probably welcomed you or got you to join.  We can always count on him when we need something built or fixed.”

Lunch this month was provided by Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.  While members dined on salmon, roasted vegetables, rice and salad, this author spoke about how Chamber members can work with the Mint Hill Times to maximize their exposure.  Pick up a copy of next week’s Mint Hill Times to learn more about how you can partner with the paper to make your business shine.

Immediate Past President Kim Rhodarmer (Servant’s Heart) brought the meeting to a close with a plug for the Chamber’s upcoming fundraiser, the Spring Tea and Brunch.  Rhodarmer encouraged the men in the room to consider treating the special women in their life to a table, or better yet, joining Commissioner Tony Long and Ed Berti and fellow men from the American Legion in serving up brunch!  Tables are going fast, so contact Paige McKinney at the Chamber of Commerce to reserve yours today.

The next Monthly Member Luncheon will be held on May 17 at Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.  The featured speaker will be Chick-fil-A Mint Hill. For more information on joining the Chamber of Commerce, visit https://www.minthillchamberofcommerce.com/.
