American Legion Post 555 Hosts Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser

MINT HILL, NC – Mint Hill American Legion Post 555, Inc. is a 501(c)19 nonprofit veteran’s organization. The Post survives and serves the community through donations, fundraisers, small grants, and sales receipts held at various events. The organization has been serving Mint Hill since 2019 fulfilling their mission through the four pillars of the American Legion, the nation’s largest veteran’s organization.

The 4 Pillars of the American Legion are:

  • Americanism
  • Youth and Athletics
  • National Security
  • Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation.


The local Mint Hill Post provides and participates in various events and activities that enhance the community.

Americanism – The Post teaches flag protection and edict, promotes the Pledge of Allegiance, and honors the Constitution and Bill of Rights. They provide proper flag retirement ceremonies, hold an annual Memorial Day celebration at Veterans Memorial Park, have an annual Wreath Laying ceremony at Sunset Memory Gardens, and participate at the annual Veterans Breakfast, Mint Hill Madness, and Rodeo.

Youth and Athletics – The organization funds and supports the following programs locally: American Legion Baseball, American Legion Lady’s Fastpitch Softball, Boy Scouts of America, Eagle Scout ceremony and projects, Junior ROTC Programs, Junior Shooting Sports, Oratorical Contest, Student Trooper Program, Tarheel Boys and Girls State Summer Programs.

National Security – In support of the national and state departments’ initiatives, the Post supports our troops, size of our armed forces, quality of life for veterans, homeland security, POW/MIAs, and other programs that can impact our national security in a positive way defending our country from all enemies foreign and domestic.

Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation – The Post supports various veteran groups both locally and nationally in providing assistance to all who have served our nation. These groups and organizations include the following:

  • Honor the Warriors – Mint Hill
  • Veterans Bridge Home – Charlotte
  • Disabled American Veterans – National
  • Wounded Warrior Project – National
  • Be the One – Sponsorship provided through the American Legion
  • Operation Comfort Warrior – Sponsorship provided through the American Legion

The American Legion exists to “Honor Those Who Came Before Us.” The Legion pays perpetual respect to ensure all past military sacrifices that were made by those who served are never forgotten by new generations. The American Legion’s motto is “Veterans Strengthening America.”

The annual “Jim Lane” Golf Tournament fundraising event is held to support the youth athletic programs offered by Mint Hill Post 555. The Post wants to thank all the sponsors, Steve Baucom, Bryan Bunn, and all others who make this event possible.
