Specializing in asphalt paving, seal coating, and asphalt repair, AA&P is also licensed, insured, ADA-compliant, and offers senior discounts. AA&P has always traveled for winter work in the South and is now coming to the South Charlotte area to help you with your asphalt problems.

Ace Asphalt & Paving is a specialist in Chip and Tar driveways. Also known as Chip Sealing, Chip and Tar asphalt driveways can really boost your curb appeal and the usefulness of your driveway. Often costing half as much as traditional driveways, Chip and Tar driveways also offer the advantage of being color customizable based on the type of stone used. “The technical name for our specialty is ‘Bituminous Surface Treatment’ (or BST for short),” says Burke.  “It is such a durable and economical pavement that BST is used on hundreds of miles of the Alaska Highway and other similar roadways in Alaska, the Yukon Territory, and northern British Columbia. BST is also used as a sealing coat to rejuvenate asphalt or concrete pavement. It generally consists of aggregate spread over a sprayed-on asphalt emulsion. The aggregate is embedded into the asphalt by rolling it, typically with a rubber-tired roller.”

AA&P also uses ECONO-PAVE TM, a high-performance cold mix of recycled/reclaimed asphalt. An environmentally-friendly recycled material, ECONO-PAVE TM is as strong and durable as regular pavement but diverts tons of waste from the landfill. Ace Asphalt & Paving cover parking lots, shopping centers, airport roads, as well as subdivision and ranch roads too.

The durable adhesive assures that your Tar & Chip driveway will last for years.
“The durable adhesive assures that your Tar & Chip driveway will last for years.”

R. Rothman, a software engineer, and owner of a Chip and Tar driveway shares why he loves them: “Advantages of tar and chip over blacktop (asphalt): Maintenance – Asphalt requires periodic sealing and repairs, tar and chip is relatively maintenance free–no sealing, and fewer repairs; Traction – In wet or snowy weather, the rough surface provides extra grip to foot or tire; Cost – Tar and chip costs less to install than asphalt; and Durability – my driveway will last longer than an “equivalent” blacktop drive. Disadvantages: Finding a contractor – The number one problem with tar and chip driveways is hardly any paving contractors still install them; Winter shoveling – As with a gravel drive, you’ll find winter snow plowing and shoveling to be harder than with blacktop; and Weeds – A handful of weeds do manage to come up through our tar and chip driveway, here and there…but in any case, it’s not too bad.” (read more at: https://www.ronrothman.com/public/leftbraned/i-heart-my-tar-and-chip-driveway)
