MINT HILL, NC – Mint Hill Residents,
We have survived the first 7 months of 2020. We only have 5 more months until a restart. Let us hope 2021 brings a brighter future.
We know your life looks a lot different than you anticipated when you made your 2020 New Year’s resolutions. I can tell you when I decided to run for Mayor, I did not know we would in the midst a world-wide pandemic. Our events team had big plans for some great events which have all been put on hold. But we are not going to let that stop our fun.
In October, we are planning on hosting our 3rd Annual Scarecrow contest. It is unclear at this point whether we will be able to have the Fall Harvest Festival, but there is no reason we cannot celebrate fall with our scarecrows. We want everyone in town to get involved. In addition to the scarecrows around the fountain at Town Hall, we want to see scarecrows at the entrance of your subdivision, in your front yards, and in front of your place of business. Nothing can stop us from driving around our town looking at scarecrows. So, start thinking about how you want to get involved and we will post more information in a few weeks.
The Board of Commissioners will meet on August 13, 2020. For the first time in several months, the Board will host a public hearing. The Town will set up speakers and monitors outside for the public to watch the live stream of the public hearing. Anyone wishing to comment on the public hearing will be escorted inside, one at a time, to speak. FACEMASKS WILL BE REQUIRED. In addition, the Board will hear public comments by email. Please email your comments to mwells@admin.minthill.com, on or before August 13, 2020, at 6:45 p.m. Please include your name, address and your comment will be read into the record at the appropriate time.
Mint Hill has a very strong sense of community, and I believe our citizens and businesses will continue to work together to get through this challenging time. I want to personally thank everyone for everything you are doing to keep our citizens healthy and safe.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and wear a mask!
Brad Simmons
Mint Hill Mayor
