Mint Hill Community,
I am so proud of our community. Mint Hill is doing a great job of staying at home and practicing social distancing. The more we adhere, the quicker we can get back to normal. I see people at the grocery stores practicing safe distancing. Our children are adapting to a new way of learning. Meetings at Town Hall are happening virtually. I see small businesses changing their way of conducting business in order to accommodate the Governor’s Executive Orders. Many of these folks do not have the opportunity to collect unemployment so I encourage you to support them. Take advantage of the family meals that many of the local restaurants are offering. Tip generously. Putting dinner on your table may be feeding their children.
I want to remind everyone to take a few minutes and complete the 2020 Census at www.2020Census.gov. It takes about 5 minutes. I am proud to say as of April 13, 52% of Mint Hill residents have completed the Census. It’s important for all citizens to complete this form. Any federal and state grants and other funding that becomes available over the next 10 years are partially dependent on the population of the town. By completing the census, you can help shape the future of Mint Hill.
Good news from the Mayor’s office. Mint Hill Madness has been rescheduled for August 6-8, 2020. Yes, we know it’s going to be a hot one, but it’s can’t be any hotter than Madness 2019. We’re looking forward to a great event and I promise that the fireworks show will be bigger and better than anything Mint Hill has ever seen.
You may have noticed that Charlotte and several of the surrounding towns have suspended yard waste pick up. Mint Hill continues to pick up yard waste but with the storm earlier this week, they are running about a day behind. If your yard waste does not get picked up within 24 hours of your normal pick up, please contact Town Hall.
I hope you are all making the best of this extraordinary time. At one point, we’ve all wished for more time at home. Take advantage of this pandemic and enjoy your time with your family.
Stay safe, stay well, stay home.
