CHARLOTTE – Earth Day is a great time to talk about Saving Energy. You’ve heard Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. We know that saving energy can reduce pollutions and conserve our natural resources. Here are 5 easy ways to reduce electricity at home with the bonus of saving you money too.
1)Switch lighting to LED fixtures and bulbs. LED could use 75% less energy and last 25 times longer than incandescent. Also, turn off the lights as you leave the room.
2)Install a Programmable Thermostat to save up to 10% on cooling and heating costs. Set it 2 degrees lower to save 5% on heating.
3)Wash laundry in cold water. Wait for full loads. Throw a dry towel in the dryer to reduce drying times.
4)Unplug electronics when not in use or try smart power strips that can be programmed to shut off the electricity for you. It is estimated that 75% of the energy used to power household electronics is consumed when they are switched off.
5)Buy energy-efficient appliances. ENERGY STAR appliances are guaranteed to reduce energy compared to conventional appliances. Also make more use of small appliances such as microwaves, crockpots, instant pots, and toaster ovens.
Remember to reuse those shopping bags and recycle your ink cartridges.
GB Electrical Services invites our local community to join us in supporting the EarthDay.org Canopy Project. We will be posting about our efforts on Facebook throughout the month of April. If we can help with any electrical needs visit GetTheBestElectric.com or call (980) 500-2387.
