
When you’re ready to sell, it’s time to get your house ready to be sold. There are several things you must do before you list your home for sale in Mint Hill. Use the checklist below to help you prepare.
Whole House
Cleaning will be essential, as you need to clean the following:
- Walls
- Blinds
- Ceilings
- Baseboards
- Windows
- Ceiling Fans
- A/C Vents
- Fireplace
- Frond Door
- Carpets
- Blinds
Along with cleaning, you should also replace anything needing replaced including light bulbs, doors, door knobs, blinds and light switch covers.
Other tasks to do within the whole house include:
- Staging furniture
- Packing up figurines and knick-knacks
- Remove unnecessary furniture
- Remove books, except decorative books
- Use an essential oil diffuser to make your home smell clean
Dining Room
The dining room will need some attention, as well. Make sure the following is done:
- Dining room table is clear with a centerpiece
- Remove any extra chairs
- Remove any extra leaves from the table
- Set the table for 4 to 6
Kitchen
For many, the kitchen is the heart of the house and it will be on display when you sell your home. Make sure it’s 100% clean including the fridge, stove, oven, microwave, tile and all other areas. In addition, you’ll want to do the following:
- Remove all items from countertops
- Replaces any worn out burners pans
- Empty the garbage
- Put away any cleaning supplies
- Remove any pet food or pet bows
- Organize the pantry
- Pack away dishes and cooking supplies you don’t need
- Scrub and polish the sink
- Clear any fridge magnets, messages and pictures
Bedrooms
The bedrooms should be attended to, as well. Make sure you:
- Make the beds
- Clear off dressers and tables
- Organize closets
- Keep all floors vacuumed
- Remove any wall decor that’s personal
- Repair any holes or wall damage
- Laundry Room
- If you have a laundry room, you will want to do the following:
- Make it look bright with high wattage light bulbs
- Clean all clutter from floors
- Put supplies away
- Remove any dirty clothing or clean clothing
Bathrooms
The bathrooms will certainly need your full attention, including:
- Clean off all surfaces
- Display a new bar of soap or bottle of hand soap only
- Fold towels into thirds on the rack
- Remove any unnecessary items from the shower and tub
- Clean or replace shower curtains
- Replace caulking
- Hide garbage cans and supplies
- Organize cabinets
Exterior
The exterior of your home will help with curb appeal. Make sure you take care of the following:
- Repaint or clean the front door
- Repaint the entire home, if necessary
- Replace any rotten wood
- Sweep all surfaces
- Pressure wash if concrete is dirty or stained
- Re-stain your deck
- Wash the windows
- Stage any patio/deck areas
Garage
The garage will need a bit of attention, too. Make sure to clean and sweep the floor, keep the storage neat and tidy and pack anything you don’t need.
Yard
Landscaping goes a long way for curb appeal. You should make sure to prune bushes away from windows, weed all planting areas, put down new mulch, remove any dead plants, add flowers for color and keep the lawn freshly mowed.
