We Cruised With Virgin Voyages Part 4

CHARLOTTE – We then processed into another area (our new terminal was still under construction), where we again used our bracelets to ID us to Virgin Sailors who were to check us in. They confirmed our Covid 19 test status (negative for all of us), confirmed our staterooms, confirmed our bracelets were connected, then cleared us to board. Boarding was on Deck 7, and our Stateroom was on deck 13 (Gasp! I had never been on a ship or a high rise building that had a level 13). We had chosen a “Sea Terrace Extra Large Stateroom with Balcony” We were not disappointed as our cabin was very large. We had a King size bed (really), plenty of space around both sides of the bed, a comfortable chair, a dressing table and mirror, a stand-up chest 6 feet high, 6 feet of hanging space, with a top-shelf, and a handicapped bathroom that you could lie down on the floor and take a shower if you wanted to. Walking outside onto the balcony, I found it to be very adequate. It had a comfortable Hammock and a table and chairs. Here we go with Innovative Award #2, the Hammock. There was an extra bonus with our room. We were 1 deck and immediately below the Control Room where all the action takes place. We became friends immediately with a cheerful wave from the captain and several crew members. They actually took the time to look for us during docking maneuvers, and always had a wave, a smile, and even took a bow when I gave the Captain a hardy “Thumbs Up” for a very skillful docking on Cozumel. All 3 top officers dressed like sailors with no shoulder stars and stopped us to say hello several times during the cruise. Here we go again, Innovative Award #3.
