CHARLOTTE -River Cruises are already underway, with more itineraries opening every day. They are not up to full capacity yet. Both Ocean and River Cruise Ships will operate at reduced capacities for the immediate future.

What changes will I see if I cruise in 2021. That varies by cruise line, but several of the companies did join together and used the same health advisors to develop plans that seemed to meet CDC requirements for Safety and Health.

1/ All check-in will be online, in advance, and arrival times will be assigned and adhered to in order to reduce lines.

2/ Paperless documents will be used in order to reduce cross-contamination.

3/ Theatres will have more showtimes per show during a sailing so that occupancy can be reduced. You will have to sign up using new Electronic ID technology. This same technology will allow the Cruise Lineto track you in the event of an onboard incident.

4/ Buffet Restaurants will have servers at stations. You would point out what you want and the server will put it on your tray.

5/ Bars will have social distancing built-in, similar to what we see at bars in the USA today.

6/ Shore excursions will be limited to pre-booked excursions with increased availability at each port and(reportedly) reduced costs. Passengers will not be permitted to disembark freely and roam on their own at this time.

7/ Deck Lounge and pool areas will have a form of social distancing built-in, not as yet designed.

8/ All ships must have onboard testing, treatment areas set aside to use in the event of an outbreak. They also must have the capability to fully test without outside dependence.
