Surrounded by beach, the DR is certainly a water sports location, but it has such variety of things to do, there is something for everyone. One of my favorites is an ex pat who lives there and takes just a few lucky clients on an “insiders” tour. In a day long tour you will visit a local school ( you are welcome to bring school supplies for the children), visit a cigar factory, eat at a wonderful local restaurant, play Dominoes with locals, and shop at a local supermarket for some local favorites. Another tour takes you on a Family Friendly horseback ride through the countryside, to a hillside lodge. You enjoy a home cooked barbeque and drinks, then a Zip Line to get your heartbeat raised. Swap tales with local “Cowboys”, then enjoy your horseback ride return trip. Deep Sea fishing can be fabulous, Scuba sites are numerous, and snorkeling is everywhere.
There are 2 international airports, one in Santo Domingo, and one in Punta Cana. Airlift is abundant from most major airports in the USA. Direct flights from Charlotte or 1 stop flights, make getting there a breeze. Rates have never been so low. I am booking clients every day at rates as low as $155 per day, per person, double occupancy, including airfare, transfers, meals, snacks, drinks, and entertainment. This would be a 4 star hotel in the Punta Cana Area in the fall of 2017 . A stay at a 6 star resort such as Zoetry requires advance booking, as the resort sells out quickly. Don Pablo Collection recently offered special rates as low as $185 per person per night all inclusive, including airfare. Special rates are rarely publicized, so check with your favorite travel agent.
Happy Travels.
