Domestic Travel By Carrier

CHARLOTTE – Planes, trains and busses will all have requirements for masks in the foreseeable future. At his time airlines are tightening mask compliance requirements, despite attempts to undermine the policy. For the most part, they have a written system in place for non-compliant travelers that range from a verbal warning to removal, to be placed on a “do not fly list” with that carrier. Some airlines such as Southwest and Delta have committed to an empty middle seat policy until 2021. Others have been found to already flying full or overbooked. Some carriers have announced they will discontinue “non-profitable” flights after October when the Federal money stops. Please check with your Travel Advisor before booking air reservations for the foreseeable future. Airlines have also changed long-standing and hated policies on “Change Fees” drastically. Here is another complicated area you need advice from a travel Consultant before accepting the airline’s word. Most are changes in “Change Fees” and no cancellation policy. Most busses are required to reduce capacity in order to Social Distance. This is a great hardship, and many bus routes and Charter Companies are suspended right now. I expect to see future tours be limited in the number of participants in order for the carriers to Social Distance. This will surely lead to price increases in the future. Also, many airlines are now using “Flex Scheduling” where flights are dropped if they are not filling in advance.
