I thought it would be appropriate to talk about the Christmas Market River Cruise at this time of year. The next 3 articles will be about a typical Christmas Market Cruise from Frankfurt Germany to Basel Switzerland.

Today we fly from Charlotte to Frankfurt where we will stay overnight to enjoy this wonderful city. On Day 2, we arrive at 9am at Frankfurt Airport. After passing through security and immigration, we collect our bags and meet Phillippe. Our tour bus driver in the Baggage area. He has a porter carry our bags to the waiting van, and off we are to our Hotel.

Upon arrival, we learn we have some free time to rest, or walk around, until we meet our guide for a very nice dinner. On Day 3, we have a very nice tour of Frankfurt, arranged by Phil and Barbara. We are very surprised about how much we really did not know about this historic city. After a great lunch, we are off to our River Cruise Ship, and our Welcome Reception with our ship Captain.

The Ship is one of the newest in the fleet. Staterooms are very modern, with large windows to watch the unfolding scenery. There were several types to choose from, and we chose a design called “Panorama Suite.” Our amazing window not only was 11 feet wide, but it opened up to a great balcony where we could bundle up and sip a “Hot Toddy”. The ship only has 5 decks, but they are packed with pleasant surprises like the putting green on the sky deck. Wifi, Cappuccino, Latte, Wine and Beer with meals, all meals and snacks were included in our price.
