MINT HILL, NC – There are several things that a young child needs in order to flourish academically. Young children cannot navigate their learning alone. They need the right environment to help them grow. There are three key components to creating an environment conducive to learning for early learners (children ages 3 – 5). The first component is to have your early learner on a schedule. Now is a great time to demonstrate that there is a time for everything. Having learning activities, meals, naps, and play times on a schedule helps our early learners thrive. The second component is that learning should be a part of everyday living. Let’s help our children discover the many opportunities to learn throughout the day. For example, a trip to the store or a walk around the block could be a wonderful opportunity to talk about shapes, colors, alphabet, and numbers. When we do this, we are showing our children that learning happens at home, in the classroom, online and at any time. Lastly, our attitude about learning impacts how our children feel about it. Ultimately, we want our children to love to learn. As parents, we can cultivate a love for learning in our children. When our children love to learn, they will seek out opportunities to learn new things on their own. When we take a positive approach toward learning, our children will follow our example.
