Green New Now: CBD Vocabulary… What does it all mean?

Share this:

Broad Spectrum = aka Isolate, purified CBD that has been extracted from the marijuana plant and isolated from the other cannabinoids and does not contain THC.
Bud = The flowering top of the hemp plant also called flower.
Carrier = the product used to dilute the CBD raw form. Usually MCT aka Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Grape Seed Oil and Hemp Oil to name a few.
CBD = Cannabinoids are active ingredients in cannabis derived from the hemp plant.
CBDN = Cannabidiol
CBG = Cannabigerol
Edibles = any CBD infused product you eat.
Extraction = How the CBD resin/oil is extracted.
CO2 Extraction = carbon dioxide is pressurized in metal tanks until it becomes a supercritical fluid, then the fluid pulls out the desirable compounds from flower. The fluid is then separated, leaving only concentrates including hash oil, shatter and paste.
Ethanol Extraction = a process where raw cannabis is soaked in FDA deemed safe ethanol to pull trichomes into the solvent. The cannabis is then removed; the liquid is filtered and the alcohol purged from the extracted material.
Hydrocarbon Extraction = typically refers to using butane or propane as a solvent that’s passed through the raw cannabis matter to collect cannabinoids and terpenes. The solvent with the essential oils is then heated up to evaporate off the butane or propane, leaving behind the extract.
Full Spectrum = full spectrum or whole plant CBD contains all cannabinoids found in the marijuana plant such as CBN, CBG, and THCV, to name a few. Full Spectrum CBD also contains trace amounts of THC, up to .3% (Federal Limit).
Homeostasis = the state of steady internal physical and chemical conditions maintained by living systems.
Sublingual = AKA Oil, Drops, Tincture are applied under the tongue.
Terpenes = aka terpenoids are the primary constituents of the essential oils of many types of plants and flowers. Essential oils are used as fragrances and traditional medicine, such as aromatherapy.
THC = Tetrahydrocannabinol
THCV = Tetrahydrocannabivarin
Topicals = AKA Balms, Salves, Creams, lotions are all applied directly to the skin
