Family Story Time will be held at the Mint Hill Library at 11:15 a.m.

 

Friday, April 14

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Stumptown Park in downtown Matthews for “Food Truck Friday.” The event is held on second and fourth Fridays, March through September, from 5-9 p.m. The event features food and dessert trucks, music and bounce houses. Saturday, April 15

The North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC will feature the Easter Bunny Express April 8-9 and April 14-15. The event includes a 25 minute train ride with the Easter Bunny, crafts, inflatables, face painting, antique fire trucks and photos with the Easter Bunny. There will be an egg hunt on April 15 only. Additional tickets can also be purchased for a meal with the Easter Bunny. Visit www.nctrans.org for ticket prices and times.

 

Lazy 5 Ranch will hold an Easter Eggstravaganza on April 8 and April 15. Explore the ranch and enjoy Easter activities such as egg drops, contests, live bunnies, a corn box and a scavenger hunt. Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Teen tutors will be available to help with elementary-level reading or math homework at 9:30 a.m. First-come, first-served for 30 minute sessions.

A book club for children will meet at 11:30 a.m. Bring a lunch and listen as Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman is read.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 3 and 3:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

NC Science Festival: Life-Sized Angry Birds will be held at 3:30 p.m. Using their knowledge of physics, teens will work in teams to build the best Angry Birds structure, then will try to knock down the other team’s creation. Registration is required.

 

Monday, April 17

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 6 and 6:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.
Tuesday, April 18

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

The 5th and 6th book club will meet at 4 p.m. to discuss The Greatest Zombie Movie Ever by Jeff Strand.

Teen tutors will be available to help with elementary-level reading or math homework at 5 p.m. First-come, first-served for 30 minute sessions.

The Teen Comic Book Club will meet at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, April 19

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age three to five will be held at 11:15 a.m.

NC Science Festival: Rookie Science Block Party will be held at 4 p.m. Children ages five to 11 are invited to have fun with LEGOs. There will be small group competitions for the tallest structure, coolest animal creations and more. Kids are also invited to bring their own LEGO creation from home to enter into the LEGO Master contest. Registration is required.

Teen tutors will be available to help with elementary-level reading or math homework at 4 p.m. First-come, first-served for 30 minute sessions.

NC Science Festival: Mad Science will be held at 4 p.m. Mad Science of the Carolinas will present Rocket Science. Registration is required.
