During the month of May, Monkey Joe’s in Matthews will offer several promotions. May Mondays will be $5 admission. May “Toddler Tuesdays” will be $5 admission for children ages four and under. Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Reading Buddies for children ages five through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Friday, May 12

The 9th annual BeachFest Matthews will be held Friday, May 12 from 6-10 p.m. and Saturday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Historic Downtown Matthews and Stumptown Park. The event will feature live beach music, shag dancing, carnival rides, a kid’s inflatable village, arts and crafts and a car show.

Saturday, May 13

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Teen tutors will be available to help with elementary-level reading or math homework at 9:30 a.m. First-come, first-served for 30 minute sessions.

Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog during the Paws to Read program at 10:30 a.m.

A Mother’s Day Celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Children can bring mom, grandma, aunt, etc. to celebrate Mother’s Day with books, food and fun. Registration is required.

The Teen Geek Club will meet at 2 p.m. to discuss the Big Bang Theory. Registration is required.

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Teen tutors will be available to help with elementary-level reading or math homework at 5 p.m. First-come, first-served for 30 minute sessions.

The Teen Comic Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Registration is required.

Wednesday, May 17

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age three to five will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Teen tutors will be available to help with elementary-level reading or math homework at 4 p.m. First-come, first-served for 30 minute sessions.

Bring the whole family to enjoy a puppet show at 6:30 p.m.
