Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:



Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Story Garden: Homeschool edition will be held at 1 p.m. Children will enjoy stories and hands-on gardening activities. Registration is required.

Friday, February 8

The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte will present Judy Moody and Stink: The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Treasure Hunt January 18 through February 10 at the Wells Fargo Playhouse. Showtimes are offered on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only. The show, based on the popular books by Megan McDonald, is recommended for ages four and older. Saturday, February 9

Do you have what it takes to eat a bug? Explore the world of creepy critters you can eat at 11 a.m. at Discovery Place Science in Charlotte.

In honor of Black History Month, Reed Gold Mine State Historic Site will offer “Black Gold: North Carolina Slavery and Reed Gold Mine” tours every Saturday in February at 1 p.m. The cost of the tour is $2 per person ages 8 and older. Children ages 7 and younger are free. Visit historicsites.nc.gov for more information.

Tickets are currently on sale for the Valentine Dance in Matthews. The dance will be held at Crews Recreation Center on Saturday, February 9 from 4-7 p.m. The evening is for adults and their children and will include dinner, refreshments, desserts, photography, music, dancing, Valentine crafts and takeaway gifts. Any combination of significant adult and child are welcome. Tickets are $15 per person and are available online or in person at the Matthews Community Center or Crews Recreation Center. Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Tuesday, February 12

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Wednesday, February13

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age 3 to 5 will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Rookie Science will be held at 4 p.m. Children will discover the world of science through books, hands-on educational activities, and experiments. Registration is required.
