Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Story Garden: Homeschool edition will be held at 1 p.m. Children will enjoy stories and hands-on gardening activities.

Friday, September 7

The Cabarrus County Fair will be held September 7-15. Attendees will enjoy food, rides, games, entertainment and competitions. Fair hours are Monday-Thursday 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. General gate admission prices are $7.50 for ages 12-54, $3.25 for ages 6-11, free for ages 5 and under or $5.35 with military ID or for ages 55 and over. Saturday, September 8

Reed Gold Mine in Midland will hold the 29th annual Pan-O-Lympics, also known as the North Carolina Open Gold Panning Competition. There will be prizes and activities for all ages. Experienced gold panners and novices can compete in the panning competition. Entry fees are $15 for adults and $10 for juniors (14 and under) in the pro division. Entry fees for the amateur division are $5 for adults and juniors. The pro division will compete at 11 a.m. and the amateur division will compete at 1 p.m. Proceeds from the Pan-O-Lympics benefit the Reed Expansion Committee, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Reed Gold Mine State Historic Site and North Carolina’s gold mining history. In addition to the panning competition, visitors will enjoy guided underground tours, demonstrations of the 1895 stamp mill, an orientation film and visitor center exhibits. Panning will be available for $3.21 (tax included) for all 8 and older.

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Wednesday, September 12

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Two Time Story Time for toddlers age 24 to 36 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Preschool Story Time for children age 3 to 5 will be held at 11:15 a.m.
