Thursday, June 21

The Charlotte Knights will take on Columbus at 7:04 p.m. at the BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte. Wear your bell-bottoms and enjoy a groovy night at the ballpark during That 70’s Knight. Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Family Story Time will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Learn and explore puppetry and music with the Frontline Puppeteers at 3 p.m. Registration is required.

Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Friday, June 22

The Mint Hill Library will show the movie The Incredibles at 1 p.m.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Stumptown Park in downtown Matthews for “Food Truck Friday.” The event is held on second and fourth Fridays, April through September, from 5-9 pm. The event features food and dessert trucks, music and bounce houses. Tonight’s concert will feature The Magnificents. Family Story Time will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog during the Paws to Read program at 10:30 a.m.

Children ages 5-11 can register for a one-on-one math tutoring session with a teen volunteer. Tutoring sessions are held at 11 a.m.

Students in grades 6 to 9 are invited to a beginner coding and computer programming class by Thinking Feet of Ballantyne. Students will design and build Mobile AppsStudents, a fully functional mobile app that you can install on your smart phone and share with family and friends. The class will be held at 3 p.m. Registration is required.

The Chess Club will meet at 3 p.m.

Sunday, June 24

The Charlotte Knights will take on Toledo at 2:05 p.m. at the BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte. Charlotte Knights players will wear Charlotte Caballeros jerseys and the team will honor Hispanic Heritage. The first 1,500 fans will receive a mini soccer ball. After the game, the kids will have the opportunity to run the bases. Monday, June 25

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Families with babies and toddlers can visit the library at 9:30 a.m. for Family Story Time: 0-2. The program will include stories, songs and movement.

Children will enjoy stories, songs and activities in both English and Spanish during the Stories in 2 Languages: Spanish program at 10:15 a.m.

Tuesday, June 26

Mint Hill Library children’s activities for today are as follows:

Baby Story Time for babies birth through 17 months will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Tiny Tots Story Time for toddlers ages 18 to 23 months will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Rising kindergartners are invited to participate in the Get Set 4 Kindergarten program at 2 p.m. Children will enjoy stories and activities that build pre-reading skills and help prepare them for success in school. Registration is required.

Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 12 will be available at 3 and 3:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.

A STEM 101 Lego Challenge for preteens and teens will be held at 6 p.m. Registration is required.
