Reading Buddies for children ages 5 through 12 will be available at 4 and 4:30 p.m. Children will read one-on-one with a teen volunteer for 30 minutes. Registration is required.
Children between the ages of 5 and 11 can come by the library at 6 p.m. to receive free homework help from a library volunteer.

The 35th annual Mint Hill Madness festival will be held May 25-27. Located at Mint Hill Veterans Memorial Park, the festival includes carnival rides, games, food, live entertainment and arts/craft vendors. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Stumptown Park in downtown Matthews for “Food Truck Friday.” The event is held on second and fourth Fridays, April through September, from 5-9 pm. The 35th annual all-American Mint Hill Madness parade will kick off at 9 a.m. The parade will feature more than 50 local businesses, organizations, entertainers, music groups, firetrucks and classic cars. The parade will run from Bain School Road to Publix along Highway 51.
